“I was always fascinated by the drums,” Dawieonthis1 recalls. “After church services, I’d eagerly bang away, and it felt like the one thing I naturally excelled at. Even on days when I didn’t feel like it, I’d still find myself drawn to music.”

Dawieonthis1’s transition from banking to music production was a pivotal moment. “Leaving banking to pursue music was worth the risk,” he reflects. A defining moment came when he earned his entire banking salary from a single music session, convincing him to dedicate himself to music.

“It was a wake-up call,” Dawieonthis1 says. “If I could make that kind of money doing something I loved, why not take the leap?”

Undergraduate Days:

During his undergraduate studies, Dawieonthis1 began DJing and soon discovered FL Studio, launching his production journey.

“DJing was exhilarating, but I soon found myself wanting to enhance the beats,” Dawieonthis1 explains. “That curiosity led me to discover FL Studio, and that’s when my production journey took off.”

Unique Sound:

Dawieonthis1’s sound seamlessly blends contemporary and electronic Afrobeats.

“Inspiration can strike from anywhere,” he says. “My mantra is ‘Master the fundamentals, and you’ll unlock endless creative possibilities’.”

Influences:

He cites Pheelz, Jon Bellion, Ed Sheeran, Kiss Daniel, Pharrell Williams, and Cobhams as influential artists and producers who have shaped his style.

“Pheelz is a genius I greatly admire,” Dawieonthis1 says. “Jon Bellion’s innovative approach, Ed Sheeran’s storytelling, and Kiss Daniel’s unique sound also inspire me.”

‘Ogechi Remix’:

Dawieonthis1 shares the story behind his hit ‘Ogechi Remix’ featuring Davido.

“‘Ogechi’ is a divine gift,” he humbly acknowledges. “I created the main beat in under 20 minutes, literally on my way out the door.”

The collaboration was facilitated by Chief Priest, and Dawieonthis1 expresses gratitude for the opportunity.

“‘Ogechi’ wasn’t a product of meticulous planning or overthinking,” Dawieonthis1 reflects. “It was simply a gift, and I’m honored to have been a vessel for its creation.”

Collaborations:

When selecting artists to collaborate with, Dawieonthis1 prioritizes building connections through casual conversations and creating a comfortable atmosphere.

“For a successful partnership, mutual respect is essential,” Dawieonthis1 emphasizes. “When both producer and artist respect each other’s contributions, conflicts are minimized, and creativity flourishes.”

Legacy:

Dawieonthis1 hopes to leave an indelible mark on the music industry, defining the sound of his era.

“I aspire to achieve longevity and influence, discovering and nurturing new talents,” Dawieonthis1 says. “Quincy Jones’ enduring impact and prolific career inspire me.”

Challenges:

Despite facing numerous challenges, Dawieonthis1 credits his faith in God for providing resilience.

“Challenges are inevitable, but with God as my rock, I overcome every hurdle,” Dawieonthis1 says, referencing Psalm 91:2.

What’s Next?:

Exciting projects are on the horizon, including his fourth personal project, uniting global talents to produce a breathtaking work of art.

“I’m passionate about exploring adjacent opportunities in the sound space, such as audio engineering and innovating products like speakers and headsets,” Dawieonthis1 reveals.

Dawieonthis1’s story serves as a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and innovation in redefining the music landscape.

As Afrobeats continue to captivate audiences worldwide, Dawieonthis1 remains at the forefront, pushing boundaries and inspiring a new generation of producers and artists.
