Nigerian Politician and business tycoon, Honorable Dorume Oghenero, has urged INEC to decentralise the production of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to accelerate issuance.

He said it was disheartening that after the commencement of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) INEC has not issued PVCs to many registrants.

The Delta-born businessman, therefore, urged INEC to speed up its registration and decentralise the issuance of the cards to avoid crises.

Oghenero cited an example about the issuance of ATM cards by banks which used to take up to one week after the request was made, but now took only a few minutes to be issued.

“Technology has gone so far. Our electoral body has a lot of work to do, because I don’t know what INEC’s challenge is. Months after commencing nationwide CVR, many people have not been able to get their PVCs.

“It is looking like a ploy to keep people disenfranchised and an attempt to suppress the people’s democratic rights. They have to do something.

He called on INEC to decentralise the production of the PVCs to zonal or state offices to ease and facilitate the process.

“Since it is not working, we must consider the alternative. We need to decentralise the production looking at how big the country is,’’ he added.

Honorable Dorume Oghenero is a Nigerian business tycoon and renowned philanthropist. He is most popular amongst his people for his selfless acts of service and genuine interest in the development of his society.

He has been widely recognized because of his humanitarian assistance to several communities in his hometown and many individuals in Delta State and Nigeria at large.

Born into an Urhobo family in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State, Dorume Oghenero who is the Chairman and CEO Nero-City Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited, is very well known for his philanthropic works in Urhobo land, Delta State, and Nigeria at large.
