In preparation for the highly anticipated Ovia Osese Festival 2026, the Ogori Descendants’ Union (ODU) has intensified grassroots mobilisation through a strategic outreach to various age groups in Ogori community.
The advocacy visit was led by Mr. Friday Moses Agbabiaka, assistant general secretary of ODU, who engaged key age-grade groups in a bid to ensure their active participation in the annual cultural celebration.
The outreach, which received a warm reception, centered on promoting inclusiveness and unity ahead of the festival—an event renowned for showcasing the rich cultural heritage and communal strength of the Ogori people.
The Ovia Osese Carnival is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 17, 2026, with a colourful procession from the Ogori-Magongo Local Government Secretariat to the Ogori Civic Centre.
Activities will culminate in a grand finale on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Civic Centre, featuring cultural displays, performances, and vibrant community celebrations.
During the visit, Agbabiaka urged all age groups to participate and contribute to the festival’s success. He acknowledged concerns about the short notice for the N50,000 participation fee per group to secure space at the Civic Centre and apologised for the timing.
However, he emphasised the importance of collective commitment and encouraged voluntary contributions to further support the event and other community initiatives.
