The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the recruitment of an additional 1,000 operatives for the Ogun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps).
The Corps Commander, Alade Adedigba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, explaining that the recruitment is part of the state government’s strategic effort to enhance security across communities.
Adedigba said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to consolidating gains already achieved in crime prevention, rapid response operations, and intelligence-driven policing at the grassroots. He noted that the new recruitment follows the enlistment of nearly 1,300 operatives into the corps last year.
“Consequent upon the approval of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Ogun State Security Network Agency (Ogun Amotekun Corps) announces the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise of an additional 1,000 personnel as part of deliberate efforts to reinforce community-based security operations across the state,” he said.
According to Adedigba, the new recruits are expected to strengthen the operational capacity of the corps across the state’s 20 local government areas, especially in rural communities, border corridors, and other vulnerable locations requiring enhanced surveillance and rapid response.
He added that the recruitment aligns with the corps’ goal of building a disciplined, professional, and community-oriented security outfit that complements other security agencies in maintaining peace and public order.
Interested applicants are invited to apply free of charge via the agency’s official website. The application period runs from February 26 to March 13, 2026, while the screening exercise for shortlisted candidates is scheduled between March 23 and April 8, 2026.
The corps commander emphasised that the process will be merit-based, transparent, and free, warning the public against fraudsters demanding payments in connection with the recruitment.
Abiodun had last July approved the recruitment of 550 operatives for the Amotekun Corps. Speaking at their passing-out ceremony at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu, and represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the governor said the recruitment reflects his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
“This move is in addition to the earlier employment of 690 operatives barely six months ago into the agency with a view to further bolster the state’s security framework,” he said.
