Ogun State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Saturday, warned former governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to desist from making inciting statements that are capable of destabilizing the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun in the state or be ready to face the consequences.

NANS, which also comprised the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), specifically challenged the former governor Amosun to provide evidence proving that the year 2019 governorship election in the state was rigged in favour of his successor, Abiodun or permanently shut up his mouth.

The warning of the largest student’s body in Ogun State was contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Abeokuta, the state capital and jointly signed by the duo of NANS State Coordinator, Comrade Kehinde Simeon Damilola and the NAOSS National President, Comrade Ogunrombi Oluwagbemileke.

Apparently reacting to a statement credited to Amosun at a public function in Abeokuta, the duo of Comrades Kehinde and Ogunrombi berated the former governor for accusing Abiodun of rigging his way into power during the year 2019 general elections.

Amosun was quoted to have publicly declared that he is not in support of Abiodun’s administration because of the “electoral malpractices” that allegedly brought him into power, stressing that all efforts must be made to vote his administration out of power by year 2023.

But the duo of Kehinde and Ogunrombi noted that Amosun’s statement was too “ridiculous and unbecoming of a leader in his calibre” because such statement is capable of heating up the polity in the state.

“Amosun’s claim that the 2019 gubernatorial election was rigged in favour of the incumbent governor in Ogun state has left us bewildered on how an individual can still desperately make such unfounded allegations after the appropriate court of jurisdiction have upheld the election”.
