The Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom has issued a solid response to a defamatory online article targeting its traditional ruler, asserting that it was published to damage the reputation of His Majesty, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom.
The controversial publication alleged that the monarch was involved in land-grabbing, organised killer squads, and kidnapping and had a prior conviction for theft of computers valued at $300 thirty years ago, before his ascension to the throne. However, sources from the Palace clarified that at the time of the alleged offence, the Obi was not in the United States but was pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at the University of Edinburgh.
In a prompt rebuttal, Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, the Palace Secretary, stated that “this malicious narrative is part of a broader campaign against His Majesty and his family, orchestrated by individuals intent on disrupting the peace and integrity of the Ogwashi-Uku community.”
The statement further revealed that the recent defamatory article was allegedly sponsored by Barrister Mayor Okolie and Elumunor Adigwe, both of whom are currently facing serious criminal charges, including terrorism and attempted murder, related to an attack on His Majesty in October 2023.
Additionally, it was noted that other individuals implicated in this smear campaign, such as Ugo Emordi, are also grappling with charges linked to murder, arson, and rape in the Delta State High Courts.
The Obi of Ogwashi-Uku is a well-educated and esteemed leader, holding a Doctorate in Economics and History. He is diligently working to combat entrenched interests that threaten to undermine community stability and control over local resources. “The allegations presented in the article are completely false, and we are prepared to take appropriate legal action to rectify this misinformation. His Majesty is committed to transparency and lawful conduct and welcomes any investigation by relevant authorities, as mentioned by the authors of the statements,” the statement concluded.
It is noteworthy that on this day, June 11, 2024, despite facing allegations and criminal accusations, Donald Trump was elected as the President of the United States, underscoring that such stories will not deter the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku from striving to enhance the lives of his subjects.
