Apex Igbo social-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed dismay over discriminatory considerations during the recent reconstitution of the Chairmen and Directors-General of key strategic federal institutions, including Bank of Industry and other national agencies.
The organisation noted that the lopsided considerations are reflective of gross compromise of national equity and principle of federal character as enshrined in the constitution.
It expressed displeasure and concerns over the glaring exclusion of South-East and South-South by President Tinubu’s administration in key strategic federal institutions.
Spokesman of Ohanaeze, Dr Ezechi Chukwu made the position of the body known while reacting to the the reconstitution of the Chairmen and Directors-General of key strategic federal institutions, including Bank of Industry and other national agencies.
Ezechi stated that these important institutions constitute the frontline drivers of national reforms and economic re-invigoration of the country.
He stressed that the discriminatory appointments and lopsided considerations are reflective of gross compromise of national equity.
“Ohanaeze consequently posits that It is sad that such discriminatory appointments and lopsided considerations are reflective of gross compromise of national equity and principles of Federal Character as enshrined in the constitution.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo therefore urges Mr. President to find a way to address this still-redeemable imbalance for the sake of inclusivity, fairness and justice,” he stated.
