The youth wing of Ohanaeze N’digbo has resolved to immortalise the late president-general of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
The youth president, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezukwu, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri yesterday when he inaugurated a 63-man burial committee of the wing to support the funeral ceremony of the departed elder statesman.
Okalaezukwu recalled Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s contributions and services to God and humanity, stating that he not only single-handedly repositioned the youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo as currently constituted but demonstrated irrepressible passion and love for the youth.
Extolling the sterling qualities of the late Chief Iwuanyanwu whom he described as an icon of no mean repute, Okpalaezeukwu dismissed as baseless and untenable, insinuations in some quarters that Ndigbo traditionally have no kings, stressing that kings existed in Igboland and were highly revered before the coming of white men in Igboland.
Responding on behalf of the committee, the chairman, Hon. Chima Obieze, said the members would work with other groups for a befitting burial.
