As the contest for the throne of ‘Ohinoyi’ of Ebira land’ intensifies, the former Senior Special Assistant to one time speaker of the House of Representatives on Diaspora Affairs, Alhaji Saidu Nda Ugonoh has appealed to other contestants to shelve their ambitions and endorse the former Clerk of National Assembly, Prince Ataba Sanni Omolori to succeed his late father, describing him as most qualified and fit to lead the Ebira nation world-wide.

Alhaji Ugonoh who also holds the traditional title of SANTURAKI of Ebiraland as well as ‘Daudu’ of the kingdom hinged his support for the former CNA on his exposure, competence and right temperament to consolidate the giant strides of his late father and also further promote and protect the traditions and culture of the Ebira people.

In a statement, the United States of America based Alhaji Ugonoh pointed out that his endorsement of Alhaji Omolori was because of his proven ability to handle complex matters associated with the exalted throne of ‘Ohinoyi’ as traditional head of all Ebira people within and outside Nigeria.

He urged the rest of the contestants and particularly the council of king-makers to support Alhaji Omolori to deploy his wealth of experience in private and public service to further elevate the throne in terms of ideas, innovations and protections of the rich culture of Ebira.

He stressed that time has come for the sons and daughters of Ebira to seek to put the cultural heritage on their forefathers on the international map,” and here we have a son of the late Ohinoyi who will not only continue from where his late father stopped but to equally take our culture to a greater height “.

He continued,” Alhaji Ataba Sanni Omolori has prepared himself long enough to be able to ascend the  throne and I appeal to every son snd daughter of the Ebira land; especially and most respectfully  our amiable, hardworking and courageous  Governor ,His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello, his successor in office ,the Governor-elect of Kogi state ,His Excellency  Alhaji Usman Udodo and all well-meaning sons and daughters as well as other contestants to support Prince Omolori for the good of the Ebiraland and Kogi state in general”.

“This is imperative because, world over today, traditional institutions are manned by people with greater foresight, exposure and finesse; and Ebiraland should not be left out. I believe that Leadership should be bestowed on people who have prepared themselves for it both psychologically and physically. At a time the country is thinking in the direction of carving constitutional roles for our traditional institutions it is important to put forth our best step, and in my considered opinion as the SANTURAKI of Ebiraland who has the interest of the kingdom at heart I urge all patriotic sons and daughters of the kingdom to make the right choice in this contest for the good of all of us and our children yet unborn.

“The late Ohinoyi learnt from his predecessor’s feet, he did very well when he ascended the throne, today Alhaji Ataba Omolori has sufficiently  prepared himself physically and mentally and will certainly do even better. Leadership of this kind and of any kind requires people with the world-view to be able to navigate through tough terrains, therefore the cap truly fits him and please, let him wear it”, Ugonoh said.
