A coalition of oil and gas producing communities under the umbrella of the Communities of Oil and Gas in Nigeria (COGIN) has called on Bola Tinubu to seek a second term in the 2027 presidential election, pledging to mobilise 10 million votes nationwide in support of his re-election.
Speaking at the event yesterday in Abuja, the director general of COGIN, Benjamin Tamaranebi, said the organisation was established to unite oil and gas producing communities and support policies that promote development and prosperity in the sector.
“We introduce to Nigerians today, the 13th day of March 2026, the Communities of Oil and Gas in Nigeria (COGIN), an advocacy group established across communities producing oil and gas nationwide,” he said.
According to him, the group believes the leadership of President Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda has brought meaningful progress across the six geopolitical zones over the past three years.
“It’s about three impactful years of Mr. President and Commander-in-Chief’s bold vision under the Renewed Hope Agenda which has sparked real progress across the six geopolitical zones, proving doubters wrong and inspiring hope nationwide,” he said.
Tamaranebi noted that the administration’s policies have positively impacted oil and gas producing communities, describing Tinubu’s leadership as a turning point for the sector.
“His strategic policies have set the Communities of Oil and Gas in Nigeria on the pathway of sustainable prosperity. As he steers Nigeria forward, we in COGIN are gladly standing with him ready to help build a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive nation,” he stated.
According to him, a single four-year term may not be sufficient to consolidate the projects and policies introduced by the administration.
“Four years is not enough to consolidate all the laudable projects and policies you have initiated so far,” he added.
Tamaranebi also described COGIN as an apolitical organisation but said the group believes continuity is necessary for Nigeria’s progress.
“We are apolitical as an NGO, but may I use this platform to announce to all Nigerians that there is no need to change a winning team,” he said.
He further disclosed that members of the organisation gave the President a standing ovation while urging him to seek another term in office.
“We hereby stage a standing ovation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pleading with him to consider a second term as we massively vote to return him to Aso Rock Villa to accomplish the laudable programmes he initiated,” Tamaranebi said.
