Two persons, a commercial motorcyclist and a female banker, lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident along Ogori–Magongo road in Kogi State, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said on Friday.

The incident, which occurred around 2pm on Thursday, involved the commercial motorcyclist and a Toyota Venza car.

LEADERSHIP gathered that one of the victims succumbed immediately to the accident, while the other, a female, was initially unconscious and later died at Ogori General Hospital due to severe injuries.

John Aisoni, identified as one of the deceased victims, worked as a commercial motorcyclist in Ogori Magongo, Kogi State, while the other was employed in a microfinance bank in the same local government.

Eyewitness accounts traced the cause of the incident to speeding.

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyedeji Samuel Sunday, confirmed the incident on Friday afternoon, attributing it to wrong overtaking.

He said, “The accident involved a commercial motorcyclist and a Toyota Venza car. Wrong overtaking led to this ghastly motor accident.

“Two persons have been confirmed dead and deposited in a morgue in nearby Edo State, while the other person is receiving treatment at Ogori General Hospital.”

The Sector Commander advised motorists to avoid overspeeding and ensure they abide by all the rules governing driving.
