The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has suspended all outdoor campaign activities for the next one week in honour of the House of Assembly majority leader, Hon. Abubakar Olawoyin who died early, yesterday.
The party chairman in the state, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, announced the suspension of its campaign activities in a statement in Ilorin yesterday.
“We hereby call on all our party organs, candidates and support groups to put a hold to all outdoor campaign rallies and activities for the next seven days until after the Fidau prayer. This is in honour of one of our leaders and brothers, Hon. Abubakar Magaji Olawoyin.
“We pray that Allah will grant Al-Jannah to all our dead, especially the Leader of the 9th Kwara State House of Assembly Hon. Abubakar Magaji Olawoyin,” Fagbemi stated.
Also, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Yaman, commiserated with the family of Olawoyin over the sudden death of the legislator.
In a press release issued yesterday by his special adviser on media and strategy, Abdulwahab Oba, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, who also commiserated with the leadership and members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, said Olawoyin death at this critical period of the country’s democratic transition is sad and devastating.
Yaman said, “though no man shall spend a moment after his appointed time, the demise of Hon. Olawoyin is shocking at a time he is still active in the service of the state”.
Yaman specifically commiserated with the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Salihu Danladi and other members of the Kwara State House of Assembly on the death of the lawmaker.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased a peaceful rest and the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
