“Irrespective of political leaning and affiliation, this is the time to show our patriotic zeal. We must all bear in mind that we must have the country first before thinking of any ambition,” Olowu said.

Commending President Bola Tinubu-led government’s efforts to improve the welfare of military personnel since assuming office, the monarch called for additional measures to further motivate and support Nigeria’s Armed Forces.

Olowu also praised the newly appointed Service Chiefs for their prompt action following their confirmation by the Senate, stressing however the need for urgent and decisive measures to neutralise terrorist groups, especially in view of the international focus on Nigeria.

“Your appointment is coming at the defining moment in our chequered history. I urge the Service Chiefs to be conscious of the fact that all resources, both human capital and equipment, must be put to the best use now to end the insurgency,” he said.

The monarch also urged President Donald Trump of the United States to assist Nigeria by providing actionable intelligence and access to platforms that could help dismantle terrorist operations swiftly across the country.
