The Ifon Orolu youths have tasked the Osun State government to respect the 1979 gazette regarding the selection of the new Olufon and allow the kingmakers to perform their traditional duties without any interference.

This was contained in a press statement issued on behalf of the youth by Adeoye Abdulgafar.

Abdulgafar also charged the Kingmakers to do their job by selecting next Olufon based on 1979 Gazette, which is acceptable by all ruling houses aside Moronfolu ruling house.

He condemned the selfishness of some some princes in Ifon Orolu, who were hellbent on supporting a dead and retrogressive 1988 Gazette.

“To set the record straight, the 1988 Gazette was conjured together to save our highly respected late Kabiyesi Oba Ilufoye Saka from embarrassment and was signed by our subject the Olobu of Ilobu during interregnum. The amazing thing about this is that some of our elite, politicians and IPU executives in Orolu were supporting this 1988 Gazette journey that will bring regret and setback for next generation in our town.

“We are calling on IPU and Elite of Ifon Orolu to stop delaying the process of selecting next Olufon and allow the kingmakers to do their job by selecting the next Olufon based on the 1979 Gazette which is acceptable by all ruling houses aside Moronfolu ruling house.

“We join a genuine call to expedite actions on the filling of the Olufon vacant stool, and equally appeal to the state government to respect the ongoing process with 1979 gazette and allow the kingmakers to perform their traditional duties without any interference,” he said.
