Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO) has conferred on Brigadier General Igwe Patrick Omoke the National Youth Merit Award.
The investiture was the highpoint of NYO’s activities yesterday in Abuja to mark the 2025 International Youth Day celebration dinner.
NYO president, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie, said Brigadier General Omoke was selected for the honour in recognition of his meritorious security service and his sterling efforts in youth development in Nigeria.
Okorie described the awardee as a patriot and dedicated officer who has given all his life to the service of the fatherland.
At the event, NUJ chairman of the FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, described Omoke as one of the most dedicated and educated Nigerian military officers.
She said, “He remains a humble man who listens at any time he is called upon.”
In his acceptance speech, Gen. Omoke expressed gratitude to the NYO organisation for finding him worthy of the honour and charged the youths to remain focused on achieving their dreams through hard work, noting that “if I can do it# you too can do it.”
The well-attended ceremony was graced by the leadership of the NYO from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
Other institutions represented at the event include the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, among many others.
