The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed six appeals challenging Abdulghani Rotimi Arobo’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat in Ondo State.
The ruling upholds an earlier decision of the Federal High Court recognising Arobo as the winner of the APC primary election held on 16 May 2026.
The trial court had ruled that Arobo secured the highest number of lawful votes cast during the primary and was entitled to the party’s nomination for the House of Representatives seat.
Reacting to the appellate court’s decision, Arobo called on aggrieved party members and supporters to unite and strengthen the APC ahead of the forthcoming election.
In a statement, he expressed appreciation to the court and thanked party leaders, members and supporters for their patience and encouragement throughout the legal dispute.
He said the ruling should mark the end of internal disagreements and allow party members to focus on their collective interests.
“I appeal to all our party members and supporters to come together in the spirit of unity. We may have had different views, but our party is our party,” Arobo said.
“The APC belongs to all of us, and our strength lies in working together.”
He urged party members and stakeholders to respect the court’s decision, avoid inflammatory statements and embrace reconciliation.
Arobo said cooperation among party members was necessary for the APC to focus on the needs and aspirations of residents of Owo and Ose.
He also appealed to his supporters to remain peaceful, stressing that the party’s collective interests should take precedence over individual differences.
The dispute arose from the APC primary election for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat, which Arobo claimed to have won before the matter proceeded to court.
