A political organisation in Ondo State, Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG), has prmoised to garner one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to win the 2027 presidential election.

The group, which said it has started mobilising support for the president’s reelection, noted that it had inaugurated coordinators in each of the 18 local governments and 203 political wards to mobilise support for Tinubu in the state.

Speaking at AMG campaign office in Akure, the state capital, the director-general (DG) of the group, Chief Muyiwa Asagunla, said it would be wrong for the state to lose the next general elections with two substantive ministers, the governor, national assembly members, and other juicy appointments at the Federal level.

According to Asagunla, under the leadership of President Tinubu, two substantive ministers were appointed, aside from other juicy appointments given to citizens of the state.

He noted that this made him eligible for the support of the entire indigenous population of the state and thus deserved the support of the state’s citizens.

Asagunla said in the 2019 general elections, APC lost the state even though it had a Governor and a minister representing the state at the Federal Executive Council.

His words: “The last time we had an election here, we lost. That’s when we had the governor during Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection. We don’t want that to repeat itself in Ondo State. We have proven the fact that APC is on the ground in Ondo State by winning the governor’s election, 18-0, by winning the chairmanship election, and all the elections we have had so far.

“And now that the president has appointed two of our sons to his cabinet, and they are doing very well as far as we are concerned, it is our time to pay back Mr. President by saying thank you. We are going to say thank you through our votes.’’
