LEADERSHIP learned that there was an argument between the couple over the act of infidelity before the incident occurred on Saturday.

According to a source who does not want his name mentioned, the deceased was asleep when his wife used a pestle to smash his head.

The source said, ‘’ There was a misunderstanding of infidelity over a concubine between the couples before the incident happened.

“When an elder from the Ibaka community of the ancient town and the Seriki Muslims of the town were called upon, they met the unconscious Jamiu in his pool of blood. When the deceased was rushed to hospital, he was certified dead.”

It was, however, gathered that the police in Akungba Akoko arrested the wife and the case was referred to police headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

Confirming the incident, the public relations officer of the command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said the deceased’s wife reported at the police station in the morning that some people killed her husband at midnight on Saturday.

She, however, could not confirm the allegation that the wife killed the deceased, insisting that the wife was the complainant of the incident.

She also noted that no arrest had been made on the matter as of the time of this report

The PPRO said, ” I can’t confirm that the victim’s wife killed him because it was the woman who reported the matter at the police station. We have not made any arrests, but the investigation has begun into the incident.”
