Ondo Task Force Declares War On Kidnapping, Robbery

In a decisive move to curb crime, a joint security task force in Ondo State has declared zero tolerance, launching a massive operation targeting kidnappers, robbers, and other criminals across both urban and rural areas of the state.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codename Amotekun Corps, commander, Adetunji Adeleye, told journalists that personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, Civil Defence, and Amotekun are working in close coordination to tackle insecurity.

He disclosed that the goal of the operation was to drive out criminals, especially kidnappers, from the state.

He said, “All the security agencies in Ondo State are working in synergy to stamp out all forms of criminality, especially kidnapping, robbery and other crimes in the state.

“We are entering both the metropolis and the bushes this morning. We are doing bush combing and scrutinising the nooks and crannies of the state.

“It is going to be a continuous exercise, and we will go around everywhere to ensure that the state remains safe as usual and that all forms of criminality are stamped out as much as possible.”

Adeleye further revealed that the second phase of the operation will extend into forested areas known to harbour criminals.

He noted that most kidnappings in Ondo occur on the outskirts of towns rather than in the towns themselves.

“We will move into the forest to carry out phase two of the operation because we want to drive miscreants out of the forests and push kidnappers away from these regions.

“You will agree with me that most kidnappings taking place in the state usually occur on the outskirts,” the commander said.

Addressing concerns about airport safety following arrests near Akure Airport, Adeleye reassured travellers that their lives and property remain secure.

‎He added, “Our personnel are firmly on the ground in the bushes behind the airport and at the entry points. So there is no cause for alarm at all. The state is safe. People can come and do their business and go about their normal activities.”

‎Adeleye reiterated that the operation would continue across all terrains to ensure residents feel safe while going about their daily businesses.
