Ooni Donates ₦100m,Hilux Vehicle To Sunday Igboho’s Security Network

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has donated ₦100 million and a brand-new Hilux vehicle to support the operations of the Iru Ekun Security Network, a community-based security outfit founded by Yoruba Nation advocate, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

The donation was announced during a courtesy visit by Igboho and members of the security network to the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the palace and signed by Sodiq Lawal on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Moses Olafare.

According to the statement, the monarch, who is the Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council and the Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide, said the donation was aimed at strengthening community-led security efforts across Yorubaland.

The Ooni commended Sunday Igboho for establishing the security outfit, describing the initiative as a bold step towards safeguarding lives and property.

He stressed that security remains the foundation for sustainable development and urged all stakeholders to support genuine efforts aimed at protecting communities.

“I commend Chief Sunday Igboho for taking a bold step towards strengthening community security. Protecting our people is a collective responsibility that transcends political, religious and ideological differences. Every initiative genuinely designed to preserve lives and maintain peace deserves encouragement and support,” the monarch said.

The revered traditional ruler further called on traditional rulers, community leaders, business executives, professionals and other prominent Yoruba stakeholders to rally behind the Iru Ekun Security Network to enhance security across the region.

The Iru Ekun Security Network is a community-based security initiative established by Sunday Igboho as part of efforts to complement existing security structures and improve the safety of communities in the South-West. The Ooni’s donation is expected to boost the operational capacity of the outfit.
