Benue State governor Samuel Ortom has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Rev.Fr. Hyacinth Alia for describing past and present governors of the state as looters and failures saying that it was a display of hypocrisy, mischief and crass ignorance, coming from a man who has never been tested in any public office.
This is even as the special adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Terver Akase in a reaction said, “as a candidate whose name is not found in the register of the party he claims to be flying its flag, he needs to be bothered about the web of controversies surrounding his emergence, more than what the previous governments did and what the next governor of the state plans to do.”
According to him, “The APC candidate has boasted to be on a messianic mission as the only one in the entire state who has the capacity to liberate Benue from what he called ‘unconscionable looting of public funds’ since the creation of the state.”
Alia during a media briefing in Abuja told journalists that his main mission in partisan politics was primarily motivated by the compelling and urgent need to liberate the good people of Benue State from “incompetent leadership, unconscionable looting of public funds, poverty and economic backwardness.”
