In a recent chat with journalists, the rising star on the Nigerian Afro music scene, Oshara, provided a behind-the-scene glimpses of a pivotal moment in his career—the electrifying performance at Felabration.

The conversation delved into the roots of inspiration and the evolution of Afro music, capturing both personal and professional layers of this emerging artiste.

Felabration, an iconic celebration of late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s legacy, became the stage for Oshara to share his musical journey. For Oshara, stepping onto that renowned platform wasn’t just a performance; it was a journey into a time capsule of musical memories. The echoes of Fela’s beats from his childhood, played by relatives, created a surreal and magical homecoming.

Having been a part of Afro music’s evolution, Oshara reflected on the genre’s transformation from traditional rhythms to the global phenomenon of Afrobeats. Felabration, he noted, symbolised the culmination of this musical journey, where his music found its distinct place in the rich continuum of Afro expression.

Oshara’s latest creation, “VibeRation”, took centrestage at Felabration, bringing a unique energy that resonated with Fela’s spirit. The festival provided a perfect platform to introduce this vibrant piece to a generation hungry for the distinctive Afro vibe, resulting in a reception beyond Oshara’s expectations.

Felabration, known for its multidimensional celebration, goes beyond music, incorporating cultural elements like boxing tournaments and fashion exhibitions. Oshara highlighted how this diversity enhanced his performance, turning the event into a universal language of music that resonated with a melting pot of cultures.

The post-performance engagements elevated Oshara’s Felabration experience. Connecting with On-Air Personalities (OAPs), engaging in interviews, and a mini-commercial shoot with Orijin expanded the reach of Oshara’s artistry.

Interviews with major platforms, including SoundCity, provided an opportunity to share the story behind the music, while the commercial shoot added a commercial touch, creating a holistic impact.

Performing in the amphisection, surrounded by youths and Gen Z attendees, was a particularly energising moment for Oshara. The vibrant atmosphere, charged with youthful energy, witnessed “VibeRation” resonating in ways he hadn’t imagined. The applause and the unexpected shower of appreciation in the form of sprayed money created an indelible memory.

As Oshara walked away from Felabration, a profound sense of accomplishment accompanied him. This wasn’t merely a performance; it marked a milestone in his musical journey, affirming his place among the luminaries of Afro music. Excitement for what lies ahead fueled his reflections on this unforgettable experience.
