The minister expressed concern over the recent incidents in local government councils in the state which led to deaths.

In a statement by the director of information in the ministry signed by Sunday Iyogun, Matawalle emphasised that the ruling halting the poll was not only a reflection of the judiciary’s independence but also aligns seamlessly with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s unwavering commitment to upholding justice, equity and the rule of law across the nation.

He said the recent incident in Osun should not be allowed to continue.

“My duty also includes protection of lives and properties of all citizens. This affirmation stands as a testament to the administration’s dedication to ensuring that democratic principles are respected and upheld at all levels of governance,” he stated.

He further called on people of the state to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tensions, assuring them of the federal government’s commitment to ensuring their safety as security had been elevated.

The minister reiterated that maintaining peace was paramount and government would support all efforts aimed at achieving stability and harmony within the state.
