Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates across Osun State yesterday converged on Osogbo Township Stadium for the state congress and election of a 39-member state executive committee that would run the affairs of the party in the state.
Prominent among the elected officers are Hon. Sunday Bisi, chairman, Yakubu Kasali Idowu, deputy chairman, Prince Bola Ajao, Secretary, Adesoye Oyetunde, Gasali Abesin and Akin Famuyide as Vice chairman, West, Central and East respectively while Taye Ambali was elected the treasurer among others.
In his speech before the election, Governor Ademola Adeleke called on all PDP members to unite behind the new executives that will be elected and hold the banner of love high.
“Unity is very key, we need all of us to join hands together and move PDP from strength to strength”, he emphasized.
The governor assured Osun people that the PDP government that is for the people, of the people and by the people will deliver the dividend of democracy to them.
In his acceptance speech, Bisi appealed to aggrieved members of the party to sheathe their sword and join them to move the state forward.
His words, “I know what it takes to lead a party into government, I have done it before and I will do it again by the grace of God. I am going to unite the party more, everybody will be on the same page under my leadership.
“People are happy in Osun State with what our governor is doing to the state. In less than four months they have seen changes, salaries, and arrears have been paid, and workers have been promoted. Infrastructure development is ongoing.
“When you have a united party, then the governor will be able to concentrate, and there won’t be any distractions, I will ensure that and bring everybody into the party so that we will be able to move the state forward’, the chairman noted.
