Association of retired heads of service and permanent secretaries in Osun State has pledged their unalloyed support for the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke in his developmental agenda.

The chairman of the association, Chief Inaolaji Aboaba, who spoke on behalf of other members made this pledge during the courtesy visit paid on Governor Ademola Adeleke in his office, State Secretariat, Abere.

He noted that retired heads of service and permanent secretaries are critical stakeholders in the affairs of the state, which has been instrumental to the development of Osun.

He commended the governor for developing the state infrastructure, prompt payment of workers’ salaries, pensions and arrears owed by the previous administration, without minding the meagre resources accruing into the government coffers.

Aboaba also appreciated the governor for abolishing the ‘alien nomenclature’ of coordinating directors and bringing back the dignity of civil service, which only recognizes Permanent Secretary as the career head of Ministries and Agencies.

The retired head of service however urged the government to approve training of workers for effective service delivery as no government can operate without the input of civil servants, while enjoining government to allow civil service to do their job without any interference.

He also charged Governor Adeleke to roll out palliative measures for workers and retirees to cushion the biting effect of fuel subsidy removal on them.

In his response,  Adeleke appreciated the association for the courtesy call and for their constant support.

Governor Adeleke, who spoke through his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi promised that his administration is ready to collaborate with them to train and retrain workers locally to improve their skills and efficiency.

He further stated that he will not relent in paying workers’ salaries, pensions and arrears, assuring civil servants of their welfare.

Adeleke therefore sought the cooperation of the civil servants so as to jointly move the State to greater heights.
