The Administrator of the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Otuaro, has advised leaders and beneficiaries of the programme to disassociate themselves from the proposed nationwide hunger protest slated for August 1, 2024.
This was one of the resolutions adopted during an emergency meeting yesterday at Domaris Garden and Suites Hotel in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, between leaders and delegates of the three segments, Phase 1, 2, and 3.
In a communique signed and presented by the national chairman of the Phase Leaders Forum, Ibena Rufus Salvation, he said that their decision was in line with the directive of the PAP Administrator, Dr Dennis Otuaro, who has instructed all leaders and beneficiaries not to join any faceless planned protest.
Ibena equally urged the Nigerian youths to give President Ahmed Bola Tinubu more time to address the economic situation and turn around the plight of the people for good, as he has promised.
“The administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and also the commanding officer of the Niger Delta region, Dr Dennis Otuaro, has directed and instructed all of us not to join any faceless nationwide protest.
“All of us, all leaders from the three segments, Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3; the entire region is hereby fully represented, and it is now a unanimous decision directed by the Administrator. We disassociate ourselves from any planned nationwide protest.
“We equally sympathise with all citizens of our country, Nigeria, for the current situation of hardship, particularly the high inflation of food and fuel prices in our country today.
