The leaders and beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) have declared that the administrator, Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, ’s achievements in just one year have surpassed those made in the programme’s past 14 years.
In a solidarity rally held in Yenagoa on Tuesday to celebrate the positive changes Otuaro brought to the Niger Delta, the national chairman of Phase 2 of the Amnesty Programme, Ibena Rufus Salvation, said that the transformative policies implemented by Otuaro since assuming office as administrator of the PAP, cannot be overemphasised.
He expressed strong support for the operations of Tantita Security Services, led by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo and commended the security outfit for its effectiveness in safeguarding oil facilities and combating illegal bunkering.
He stated that the leaders and beneficiaries of the Amnesty programme are passing a vote of confidence on Otuaro. He urged President Bola Tinubu to sustain his administration’s collaboration with Tantita Security, emphasising its crucial role in maintaining regional stability.
“It is on this background that we are embarking on this solidarity rally to celebrate Otuaro’s one year in office and one year of the Tantita Security contract. Tantita is not doing only oil facility surveillance, they are providing employment, putting food on the table of thousands of people in the Niger Delta region.
“People should know that at this moment, with Tantita Security, Niger Delta is safe, with Dennis Otuaro, Niger Delta is safe.
No more air pollution, no more water pollution, everywhere is calm. These are very great achievements, and it is on this note that we are passing a vote of confidence on Dr Dennis Otuaro”, he said.
Salvation also hinted that Otuaro’s leadership in the last year has helped to reduce tension and conflicts in the region, saying that he has worked closely with ex-agitators, community leaders, and government agencies to maintain stability by ensuring that beneficiaries receive their entitlements on time and addressing their concerns through peaceful dialogue.
In their respective remark, the leader of the Phase 1, Edward Youdiowei, urged the youths of the Niger Delta to be patient with Otuaro, adding that he has done enough for the beneficiaries and the Niger Delta region.
Youdiowei appreciated President Bola Tinubu, the national security adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the PAP administrator, Dr. Otuaro, for collaborating with the stakeholders in the region to sustain the Amnesty programme and also increasing the Amnesty budget.
