The Young Progressive Party (YPP) has raised the alarm over their candidates’ endorsement of other presidential candidates besides their own.

The party lamented that it was worrisome that their candidates resorted to this behavior despite enjoying free nomination forms from the party.

According to a statement issued by the national publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Egbeola Wale Martins, YPP said rather than focusing on winning the elections, some of the party’s candidates have embarked on a wild goose chase of endorsing presidential candidates different from that of the party.

“The Young Progressives Party dissociates itself from the actions of these few individuals, hence this should serve as a disclaimer to the general public, especially Presidential candidates and critical political stakeholders who at any point engaged or are still engaging with these individuals in the name of the party that they do so at their peril.

“No candidate, group of candidates or even the National Chairman of the Young Progressives Party can endorse a Presidential candidate different from that of the party as that decision squarely rests with the appropriate leadership organs of the party and as of today, no decision has been taken to the contrary.

“Our records revealed that the concerned candidates are those who have been given free nomination forms based on the party’s policy of inclusivity, thereby unraveling their original intention, which is everything but to contest and win.”

“In addition, a critical review of our data also revealed that all our candidates who obtained their nomination forms at the full cost without compromise have all been found to be busy engaging in rigorous campaigns, disrupting the system, and breaking new barriers in line with our #BallotRevolution mandate, which is why they are too busy for frivolities.

“It is on the strength of the above findings that the party going forward, will consider reviewing its policy of inclusivity with the intention not to scrap it but to make it watertight to fend off transactional candidates, “ the statement added.
