Over 104 Schoolgirls Receive Conditional Cash Transfers

Children’s Day in Katsina took on a deeper meaning this year as Governor Dikko Umaru Radda used the occasion to spotlight his administration’s growing investment in girls’ education.

At the heart of his message was a clear achievement: over 104 schoolgirls across the state have already benefited from the government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme.

The initiative, introduced under the Girl Education Development Initiative, targets vulnerable schoolgirls who might otherwise be pulled from the classroom by poverty or cultural barriers.

Through the CCT, these girls receive direct financial support and essential school materials, empowering them to remain in school and thrive academically.

During the colourful celebration at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Governor Radda didn’t just acknowledge the children, he connected with them.

From walking alongside a young parade commander to exchanging heartfelt moments with children living with disabilities, his presence was both symbolic and sincere.

Yet behind the pageantry, there was substance: a determined effort to secure a better future for Katsina’s children through real, measurable action.

Governor Radda made it clear that his administration’s approach goes beyond ceremony. By putting financial tools directly into the hands of families, the state is actively dismantling barriers that have long stood in the way of girls’ education.

The Governor described these interventions not as handouts, but as investments in the future of the state.

The children who marched, smiled, and danced through the day’s event were not only celebrating; they were being celebrated for their potential, their dignity, and their place in the state’s future. And for the 104 schoolgirls who now attend school with the support they didn’t have before, that future feels a little closer and a lot more possible.
