Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has said the federal government is outraged by the Sunday killing of innocent worshippers and would get to the root of the attack.

Last Sunday, suspected terrorists killed over 50 worshipers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.

Aregbesola, who paid a condolence visit to the church yesterday, described the incident as “extremely unfortunate, devastating, senseless and an attempt to ignite an ethnic war.”

The minister who declared that the government was tired of hearing stories of carnage, said the federal government would not be deterred in its efforts at ensuring adequate security of life and property of the citizenry, adding that it would rather move to address the myriads of security issues facing the country.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to tackle the monster of terrorism head on, assuring that the terror will not survive for much longer.

While promising that there will be no let-up in the on-going campaign to rid Nigeria of the menace of these terrorists, Aregbesola said, “Since they have no regard for the sanctity of life, so shall they be dealt with.”

According to the minister, “The attack was to dampen the morale of the government and Owo community, noting that the criminals were going after soft targets because they have been weakened.
