The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its readiness to wrestle power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in 2027.

The party’s acting chairman in the state, Alhaji Olayide Abas, who made this submission while addressing some leaders of the party from the six local government councils in Ibadan Outer City zone, vowed that APC was ready to dislodge PDP to reclaim the Agodi Government House.

He assured that the party would return to power by reclaiming the governorship seat from the ruling party in the state.

Abas who made this declaration while speaking in Ibadan, recalled how the Governor Seyi Makinde of the PDP defeated the former APC candidate, Adebayo Adelabu and candidates of other political parties to win the 2019 gubernatorial election.

Makinde also defeated the APC candidate, Teslim Folarin and other candidates of other political parties to win reelection for the second term in 2023.

He said: “With the array of eminent personalities in this delegation and the message you have passed with your visit today, I am happy to state that our party is ready for the challenges ahead and we shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that APC returns to power in Oyo State in 2027.

“I have met virtually all the stakeholders across the state and I can tell you categorically that enduring peace and harmony has returned to our party.

“Almost everyone who left the party in the buildup to the last general election is back, while we have been receiving requests from members of other political parties, including the ruling PDP, to join the APC.

“We were in Ibadan North last week to receive hundreds of former PDP chieftains into our party and there are strong indications that the trend will continue unabated.

“In other words, we are working round the clock to further entrench the fact that APC is the party to beat in the state anytime.”
