The Oyo State Police Command said it has commenced forensic analysis of a viral video circulating on social media in connection with a recent abduction incident in the state, as part of efforts to aid ongoing rescue operations and investigations.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the footage is undergoing detailed forensic examination to establish its authenticity and assist in identifying those behind the attack.

He said the analysis would further strengthen ongoing intelligence-driven operations aimed at securing the release of abducted victims and apprehending the perpetrators.

“Following the commencement of these investigative procedures, the Command reassures residents of its unwavering commitment towards ensuring the safe return and reunification of all abducted persons with their families,” Olayinka said.

According to him, coordinated operational and tactical efforts are ongoing in collaboration with other security agencies to rescue the victims unharmed.

He added that the police are urging residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information that could assist ongoing operations.

The Command also cautioned members of the public against sharing unverified information or misleading content capable of heightening tension or causing panic, warning that such materials could be exploited by criminal elements.

Olayinka encouraged anyone with useful information to promptly report to the nearest security agency to aid investigations and rescue efforts.

He reaffirmed that the Command remains fully committed to restoring normalcy, ensuring the safe rescue of abducted persons, and bringing all those responsible to justice.
