The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive leadership in securing the rescue of the abducted teachers and schoolchildren in Oyo State and the arrest of the suspected kidnappers.
Omidiran also commended Nigeria’s security agencies for their courage, professionalism and unwavering dedication during the rescue operation, describing the successful mission as further evidence of the federal government’s determination to combat insecurity and protect the lives of Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the FCC’s spokesperson, Ademola Lawrence, Omidiran said the operation reflected the Tinubu administration’s steadfast commitment to national security, strengthened public confidence in the country’s security architecture and demonstrated that criminal elements would find no safe haven anywhere in Nigeria.
“The successful rescue of the kidnapped teachers and children, alongside the arrest of the suspected kidnappers, is encouraging news for every Nigerian. I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the necessary leadership and support to our security agencies, whose professionalism, resilience, patriotism and sacrifice made this outcome possible.
“I also salute the gallant officers and personnel of our various security agencies whose collective efforts, courage and dedication continue to strengthen the fight against insecurity across the country. Their commitment to protecting lives and property deserves the appreciation and support of every Nigerian,” Omidiran said.
The FCC chairman urged security agencies to sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and denying criminal groups any operational space across the country.
She stressed that safeguarding schools, pupils and communities must remain a national priority.
“Every Nigerian child deserves to learn in a safe and secure environment, while every teacher deserves the confidence to carry out the noble responsibility of educating our future generations without fear,” Omidiran said.
“We must continue to strengthen our collective resolve against insecurity and support all efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property.”
She also called on Nigerians to complement government efforts by remaining vigilant and providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
“Government alone cannot win the fight against insecurity. Citizens also have a critical role to play by remaining vigilant and providing credible and timely information to security agencies to help prevent crime and protect our communities,” she added.
Omidiran congratulated the rescued teachers, pupils and their families on their safe return, expressing gratitude that the incident ended without loss of life.
She also prayed for the victims’ speedy physical and emotional recovery and reaffirmed the Federal Character Commission’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, national unity and a secure environment for all Nigerians.
