Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged women in the South-East to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, declaring that the country has passed through the painful phase of economic reforms and is now approaching a period of prosperity.

Mrs Tinubu made the call on Saturday at the South-East zonal APC Women Presidential Rally in Enugu, where she assured supporters that the President remained committed to transforming the country.

Addressing the gathering, the First Lady in a statement  by her media aide , Busola Kukoyi, likened the challenges associated with the administration’s reforms to the pains of childbirth, saying the difficult period was over and the time had come for Nigerians to enjoy prosperity.

“As the President said, it is time for prosperity. You know, the pain of labour to birth a child is over. It is time for joy and prosperity,” she said.

She said Nigeria stood at the threshold of prosperity after enduring the pains of reforms, urging women in the region to rally behind President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The First Lady also assured that the President would not relent in his efforts to transform the country, describing the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party that keeps its promises.

Mrs Tinubu highlighted the interventions of her Renewed Hope Initiative, which she said had consistently supported women, young people and vulnerable Nigerians through financial assistance, skills acquisition programmes and the distribution of equipment and working tools.

As part of the rally, she flagged off the distribution of empowerment items to 5,000 women in Enugu State.
