Panel Probing Political Violence In Kano Begins Sitting Monday

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the Kano State Government to unravel causes of political violence and missing persons in the state from 2015 to 2023 has fixed Monday, May 6, 2024 for its inaugural sitting.

This was made known in a statement made available to newsmen by the Secretary of the Commission, Mahmoud Bar, on Saturday in Kano.

Bar said the session will take place at Kano High Court 13 located on Miller Road, Kano by 10am prompt.

Governor Abba Yusuf had inaugurated the Commission in April to investigate instances of political violence and missing persons in the eight-year tenure of the immediate past governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.

The Commission has Justice Zuwaira Yusuf as its chairman with other distinguished personalities as its members.

While inaugurating the commissions, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to hold anyone accountable for the alleged offence while he directed the panel to remain steadfast in serving the people of the state by ensuring that justice prevail.

He however made it clear, that the move was not meant to witch-hunt anybody, but a response to the mandate given to him by the good people of Kano State.
