In a stirring tribute that crossed religious and cultural lines, Nigeria’s former minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, has praised Pope Francis for his steadfast commitment to global peace, oppression of Palestinians in Gaza strip and interfaith harmony.
In a tribute posted on his official Facebook page, Prof Pantami, who is also a well-read Islamic cleric, described Pope Francis as a moral compass in a fractured world.
Pantami lauded the Pontiff’s consistent advocacy for dialogue, compassion, and justice, saying his leadership embodies virtues that are urgently needed in today’s polarised societies.
He said Pope Francis reminded world leaders that peace is not a luxury, it’s a responsibility.
The former minister emphasised that while doctrinal differences remain, the shared values of empathy, humility, and peace offer a powerful foundation for cooperation between faiths.
Prof. Pantami argued that Pope Francis was not just the leader of Catholics but also a champion of human dignity.
Commenting, a public affairs analyst based in Bauchi, Isa Usman said Prof Pantami’s tribute to Pop Francis marks a rare and refreshing moment of interreligious solidarity in Nigeria.
