In an apparent charge to the chief mourner and former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, and his former political allies, former Minister of Communication and Islamic cleric, Dr. Isa Pantami, has called for peace among the gladiators and a reflection on their past good deeds for one another.
According to a viral video on social media on Sunday, Pantami made the call in a sermon at the graveside of the late mother of El-Rufai, Hajia Umma, at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja on Sunday.
In his sermon, Pantami urged leaders to prioritise unity over division, reminding them of the transient nature of life.
“We should always try to remember the goodness in people rather than the bad sides of each other. This world is temporary; we will all leave it someday,” he said.
He added that success and fulfilment come not from political scheming but from adherence to divine guidance.
“Whatever you are seeking, nobody can give it except God. Our wisdom or machinations will not give us success; only following God will give us success,” he stated.
Pantami further emphasised the need for collective reflection, noting that “remembering the things that brought us together is better than fixating on the things that divided us.”
LEADERSHIP reports that El-Rufai’s mother died on Friday in far away Egypt while the former governor was in detention over alleged corrupt practices for which he is facing trial at a Federal High Court in Kaduna.
Present at the graveside were a mammoth crowd of sympathisers, including erstwhile political allies of El-Rufai – Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.
The development took place a moment after a funeral prayer took place at the National Mosque in Abuja, which also attended by a mammoth crowd, including former vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, governors, other numerous politicians and others.
