The managing director and chief executive officer of Parallex Bank Limited, Dr. Olufemi Bakre, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos, during the faculty’s 60th anniversary celebration.
The diamond jubilee event, held at the university’s main auditorium, recently, brought together distinguished personalities and alumni, including the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali; Chief Tunde Fanimokun, former Permanent Secretary in Lagos State and Chairman of the occasion; and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola.
Dr. Bakre, an alumnus of the University of Lagos, was recognised for his exceptional leadership, professional excellence, and remarkable contributions to the Nigerian banking and financial services sector.
He was also appreciated for leading the bank, as the pioneer MD/CEO,  from inception to profitability in less than three years, driving innovation and customer-centric solutions that have positioned the bank among Nigeria’s fastest-growing financial institutions.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Bakre expressed gratitude to the University of Lagos for the recognition and dedicated the award to the Parallex Bank team. He reaffirmed his commitment to ethical banking, innovation, and nation-building.
Other awardees at the event included Chief Tunde Fanimokun and several accomplished alumni who have contributed significantly to the faculty’s growth and national development.
