Headmistress of Etitiulo Primary School, Bende, Abigail Ndukuba has urged parents and guardians to key into the Abia State Free Primary Education programme by enrolling their children and wards in public schools.
Ndukuba spoke to LEADERSHIP Weekend yesterday after the inauguration of a modern office block built for the headmaster of the school by First Vision Club of Nigeria in Bende local government area.
She said with the massive retrofitting of the schools and engagement of new teachers by the government, the schools are now adequately equipped to deliver quality learning and moral conduct.
Speaking earlier when the office was handed over to her, she commended the club for its patriotism and the intervention, assuring that it would ginger the teachers to deliver quality-based learning.
In a speech before handing over the office, the chairman of the club, Ifeanyi Ikechukwu, said in addition to building the office, the club had donated dozens of learning materials to five primary schools in the town.
Ikechukwu, who noted that the gestures were part of the club’s efforts to complement the education policy of Governor Alex Otti, promised that the club would continue to support efforts in developing the society.
In an address, the chairman of the occasion, Vincent Kalu commended the club for the gestures and called on wealthy individuals, business organisations, age groups, and other clubs to emulate the club.
Contributing in a goodwill massage, the education secretary of Bende local education authority, Nneka Udensi, represented by John Irokansi, thanked the club for the gestures.
Led by Onyeike Chibuzo, other stakeholders and invitees, who also presented their respective goodwill messages, made donations for the equipping and furnishing of the office.
