A self acclaimed pastor, Abiodun Sunday Oluwadare, has reportedly strangled his wife, Tosin, to death in Ekiti State.
Oluwadare, popularly known as Ara-ina, who has since been arrested by the police, committed the heinous crime in Ido Ile in Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state.
He was alleged to have claimed to be a notorious herbalist before becoming a pastor.
It was also gathered that Oluwadare was posted to a popular church on Ido mountain where he was once expelled before this ugly incident .
The deceased step brother, Mr Samuel Ibironke, said, “Afer killing my sister, he called my wife who is an health worker to come and assist him only for my wife to get there and discovered that he strangled my sister to death.
” He was allegedly caught with the corpse on his way out of the town to go and evacuate the foetus in his dead wife’s womb without the parents approval before he was stopped at Ita-Ido. From there he was taken to the police post in Ido-Ile and later to Ekiti West Police Division before he was later transferred to the homicide section of the state command.”
The suspect, earlier in the year, was alleged to have kidnapped a child on the mountain where he was working and this led to his dismissal by the authority of the church in charge of the prayer mountain, but he was later reinstated.
“He was legally married to Mrs Adeyemi Adetola Oluwadare, who already had two grown up children for him before he allegedly killed her with an eight month pregnancy.”
The mother of the deceased was said to be in a coma since the death of the woman who was said be her only child.
In his reaction, the traditional ruler of the town, Olojudo of Ido-Ile, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, said, “It is a very sad occurrence which nearly set the town on fire because the youth went on rampage in protest against the so-called pastor. I want the authorities to investigate the matter and bring the culprit to book so as to serve as a deterrent to others.”
Confirming the incident, the Ekiti State Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abutu Sunday, said the suspect has been arrested.
He said the matter has been transferred to the state CID which has begun investigation, adding that the suspect Wii be arraigned in court after the conclusion of the investigation.
