Recently as a guest on Radio Ndeke Luka, the U.S. Ambassador to the Central African Republic (CAR), Patricia Mahoney, recognised the presence of a private military company, Bancroft, in the Central African Republic, however she stated that her government was in no way involved in or responsible for the presence of the American paramilitary company Bancroft in the Central African Republic.
In response to the interviewer’s question about her opinion and her country’s backing of PMC Bancroft, Mahoney, denies the existence of a direct relationship between her country, the United States of America, and the military company Bancroft.
Patricia Mahoney stated: “Bancroft is a private American company and not an agent of the United States government, and the United States government did not participate in its alleged activities or presence in the Central African Republic.”
Confronted with the journalist’s insistence on knowing the truth about Bancroft’s presence in the Central African Republic and US relations with this private company, the US ambassador felt pressured and replied in an angry tone: “No! I told you I’m not… we’re not involved in their presence or their alleged activities.”
After regaining her composure, she tried to steer the conversation towards the heart of American humanitarian activities in the Central African Republic through its organizations.
Patricia Mahoney has repeatedly stressed that the United States is working for peace and prosperity. “Our work in the Central African Republic is always done in partnership, alongside the people and government of the Central African Republic,” according to Ms. Mahoney.
However, the ambassador’s outburst has heightened doubts about US intentions in the country, and It seemed clear that the ambassador was aware of the activities of the military company Bancroft in the Central African Republic.
During this media appearance, the ambassador seemed unwilling to be interviewed anymore. and the journalist’s insistence on asking about American mercenaries rreally upset the American ambassador.
According to one of the people working on the radio, after the interview ended, the ambassador muttered as she left the office that journalists were looking into matters bigger than themselves and that local American affairs had nothing to do with them.
It seemed clear that the ambassador was aware of the activities of the military company Bancroft in the Central African Republic. and it’s clear that the affair is not about bringing peace to the Central African Republic, but rather about strengthening the individual’s influence in the country.
