Industrialist and CEO of Erisco Foods, Chief Eric Umeofia, has stated that the continuous patronage of foreign products will create a cancerous economy and cause more injuries to investment drive and export potential because the country lacks capacity to export and expand.

Erisco boss noted that the economy is at risk of cancer “when we import our products even as he stressed that continuous importation will expose our economy to cancer and create more injuries to our export potential and this will continue to haunt us, and wound our investment drive. “
He said, ‘when we buy foreign products, we are wounding our economy and also at risk of putting cancer into our economy.’

He urged Nigerians to gear up efforts to improve patronage of locally made products while affirming that the continuous patronage of foreign products will expose us to a cancerous economy.

Speaking at the unveiling and official introduction of Ready-to-eat Erisco Jollof Rice in Lagos, chief Eric Umeofia said, the military troops approached Erisco foods to provide them with a ready to eat meal to enable them combat resurgence in the country.

Following this, he said, the company had officially signed a production mill Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Defense Research and Development Bureau (DRDB) in 2018 to improve production.

The military approached Erisco foods for a ready-to-eat meal to enable them combat resurgence in the terrorist hotbed states of the country and to this end the production mill Memorandum of understanding was signed in 2018.

He noted that the Erisco Ready-to-eat Jollof meal will address urgency and emergency needs of food which he said had been meeting the needs of military troops in war torn states in the country.

He said the military troops are already using its products while stressing that the products are NAFDAC approved and produced with the best of equipment, expert knowledge and vacuum heat for preservation and product longevity.

‘We are the number one supporter of government, we will continue to grow the economy with our industrial aspiration,’ he said,

He further sympathised with Borno state flood victims as he donated goods worth N100 million to enable them cushion the effect of the flood. He, however, urged the government to support manufacturers and industrialists in a bid to expand the local economy while urging Nigerians to patronise Made in Nigeria goods to grow a buoyant economy.
