Performing the ceremony which coincided with the 41st anniversary celebration of the PCRC at the Senior Police Officers Mess in Owerri, Alhaji Mogaji charged them to eschew arrogance, power confrontation and vindictiveness in the discharge of their duties even as he urged the PCRC family in the state to extend their support and cooperation to them as they did to the former exco.

The PCRC boss hailed the dissolved exco, led by Chima Chukwunyere, for their exemplary performance, which he noted had raised the organisation’s credibility. He advised the new team to keep the flag flying through commitment and dedication to duty and strengthen the relationship between the police and the public.

In his remarks, the former PCRC, chairman, Chima Chukwunyere who was later elevated to the position of a national coordinator for reviving and revitalizing the body in the state said that having joined the association in 1996 and leadership bestowed on him in 2008, he pragmatically and intuitively established a weekly radio programme to sensitise and smoothen relationship of the police with the public as well as to creat stronger public awareness on the dangers of cultism, drug addiction, hooliganism and sundry social vices among students.

Insisting that the police still remain a friend to members of the public, Chukwunyere, the MD/CEO of Domino Paramount Hotel Owerri, said that between 2008 and the present, he has offered free hotel accommodation to police officers on transit for a total of N7.6 million.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Aboki Danjuma, represented by the PPRO, ACP Henry Okoye, commended  Alhaji Mogaji for enhancing the relationship between the police and the public, noting that sustained partnership, trust, and collaborations were of crucial importance for the police and the PCRC to move forward.

The CP described the school out reach programme of the PCRC as timely and a step in the right direction to stern juvenile delinquency in society.

In his inaugural speech, Evangelist Uzodinma pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him, promising a robust relationship between the police and the public.

“I will set up a farm settlement for the police in the state, liaise with the Imo State government to establish a housing estate for the police in addition to procuring bus for the PCRC in the state,” he added.

Additionally, the new PCRC leader said that he would accord respect to fallen heroes of the police by floating revolving soft loans for the widows of the fallen heroes with an initial sum of N1 million,  just as mass transport bus service will equally be provided for the police in the state.
