Plateau State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed concern over the abduction of Hon. Dung Tari, the PDP chairman of Jos South LGA shortly after a meeting with executive members at the party’s office in Bukuru.
The state chairman of the party, Hon. Christ Hassan, while addressing newsmen at the party secretariat in Jos alleged that Hon. Tari was picked by men in Nigerian Army uniform in two Toyota Hilux pick-up trucks in military colour and number plates around Total Filling Station, Bukuru where he parked to respond to calls.
According to him, the men in army uniform surrounded him and bundled him into one of the trucks while one of them forced his niece out of his private car and they proceeded to an unknown destination with no information.
Media officer of Operation Save Haven OPSH in charge of security in Plateau, Bauchi and some parts of Southern Kaduna, Captain Oya James, told LEADERSHIP Weekend that the role of the military is to protect lives and property of citizens and not to kidnap them.
He challenged the PDP to furnish OPSH with evidence that it was the military that abducted the chairman with a view to investigate and bring the perpetrators to book.
