Gunmen have killed the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) councilorship candidate in Pari Ward of Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Raymond Timothy, and his brother, James Timothy.

A PDP chieftain in the local government area, Barnabas Chawai, disclosed the incident in a telephone interview with a Journalist in Kaduna.

According to him, the victims were killed on Sunday evening while returning on a motorcycle from a political campaign in Kizachi Village of Pari Ward, Kauru local government.

Mr Chawai averred that the killing could be politically motivated while calling on security agencies to take proactive action and ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are apprehended and brought to book.

“Drastic measures must be implemented to forestall further occurrence as we approach the October 19 local governments council poll.

“The victim (Raymond) had three children, and the wife was pregnant and expecting their fourth child,” Chawai disclosed.

Also, the Secretary to the Village Head of Kizachi, John Wanneh, said they were together with the victim (Raymond)at around 6 pm and parted ways for him to return home to Bakin-Kogi only to hear a few minutes after their attack.

“It was not more than 10 to 15 minutes when we parted ways that we heard gunshots around some guinea corn farms. Honestly, we cannot be able to say who are those that committed this crime or say the killing was connected to politics or not,” Wanneh said.

However, he appealed to the government to help construct a bridge and road to facilitate access in an emergency situation.

“Security operatives cannot enter the village now because of the bad nature of the road, and there’s a river which they cannot cross; that has been our situation for a long time,” Wanneh lamented.

As of the time of filing the report, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer PPRO ASP Munsir Hassan could not be reached for a reaction.
