As the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) awaits the verdict of the Court of Appeal on the leadership tussle rocking the party, a high-ranking member and senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, has unveiled the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
At a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, the former Bayelsa State governor said he has shown loyalty and support to the embattled PDP, adding that the party is presently in the intensive care unit and that a lot may be done to revive it.

He said the NDC has been offered as a credible opposition platform and appealed to other opposition members to join the party.
“While we are waiting for the outcome of the Court of Appeal case, it will be difficult to continue waiting if one intends to participate in the 2027 elections, going by the new Electoral Act and the election timetable.
“I am one of the engine rooms of the PDP, but the party finds itself where it is today because of the over far-reaching ambitions of some governors,” he said.
Dickson added that Nigeria must rise to resist the idea of a one-party state allegedly being nurtured by the ruling party, stressing that the country is too diverse in culture and social alignment to thrive under such a system.
Details later.
