The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has dismissed the dissolution of the state party executives in Ondo, Ekiti and Ogun states.

In an apparent reference to the National Caretaker Committee backed by FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, the Turaki faction described the dissolution of the state executives as illegal, unwarranted and an affront to the proposed reconciliation for which talks are underway.

Following the Appeal Court ruling which dissolved last November’s Ibadan PDP national convention, plans of reconciliation talks between the warring camps have been muted.

This came as the caretaker committee prepares to organise a PDP national convention in Abuja later this month.

However, reacting to a dissolution of the three state executives, the national publicity secretary of the Turaki-led camp, Comrade Ini Ememobong, told the state  chapters and party officials at the local government and ward levels to discountenance the notice and continue to exercise their lawful duties.

In a statement, Ememobong referred to the announcement of the dissolution of the elected State Executive Committees in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo states as purported announcement.

“This dissolution, which is illegal and unwarranted, is an affront to the proposed reconciliation for which talks are underway. This further attempt to deepen divisions at the state and other levels is null, void and of no effect whatsoever.

“We urge the state chapters, all officers of the party at the local government and ward levels and indeed the public to discountenance the said notice and continue to exercise their lawful duties.

“For the avoidance of doubt, our desire for peace must be understood in the context of the need for the salvation of the party for the purpose of the forthcoming elections, and not misconstrued otherwise,” he said.
