Immediate past governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has denied allegations that his previous administration under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) owed workers four years’ salaries and seven years’ pensions.
Ortom, who spoke in Makurdi during the affirmation of former attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice, Chief Michael Aondoakaa (SAN) as the PDP governorship candidate in Benue State, described the claims of owed salaries and pensions for years as misleading and false.
Ortom, who is the state leader of PDP, assured Benue people that Aondoakaa would return Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their ancestral homes if voted.
In his acceptance speech, the governorship candidate, Aondoakaa, who emerged through consensus, promised to transform Benue State by providing quality healthcare and education, improving infrastructure, and repositioning other sectors.
The former minister also said he would tackle insecurity headlong.
Aondoakaa, however, named a 38-year-old politician, Dr Oyije Ogbenjuwa, as his running mate.
