The National Rebranding Forum in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and National Convener Progressive Youths for Makinde’s Presidency 2027 have stressed the need for the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, to run for the presidential position in the  2027 general elections on the PDP platform.

The group noted that his participation in the race is essential because he would be able to address the various challenges facing the nation.

The group, in a letter addressed to Governor Makinde,  signed by Prince Christopher Odianerewo, the National Secretary and Head of the Media Team for the group, urged him to consider the pleas of the struggling masses and show interest in the race.

The group highlighted the prevailing hunger in the country, which it attributed to the poor economic policies of the All Progressives Congress-led administration.

The group stated that the nation’s democracy is on the brink of total collapse, adding that the only way out is for leaders like Makinde to assist.

The letter read in part, “Our nation’s democracy teeters on the edge of total collapse, and our economy is rapidly dwindling due to what we perceive as flawed policies.

“The security situation has worsened to an alarming degree, with terrorists reportedly controlling some local government areas in the north. Food insecurity is rampant, exacerbated by the continuous killings of innocent people by unscrupulous elements.

“The rate at which medical personnel are leaving the country, known as “japa”, is deeply alarming and worrisome. Foreign investors have fled due to perceived harsh policies on foreign investments. The academia is no longer enviable due to inadequate funding.
