All the executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 17 local government areas of Enugu State have been inaugurated.
The executives of the party in the 260 wards of the state were also inaugurated.
The inauguration exercise ended at the Nkanu East LGA headquarters, Amagunze, on Friday.
The state chairman of the party, Dr Martin Chukwunweike, who performed the inauguration exercise in all the LGAs, charged the newly elected executives to immediately begin to work for the success of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He regretted that the party made a grave mistake in the 2023 elections, which saw it losing substantial seats to the Labour Party in the various legislative houses at the state and federal levels.
Chukwunweike however told them that their jobs had been made easier by the performance of Governor Peter Mbah in various aspects of the state economy.
He said, “We’ve visited all the LGAs. We’re here to perform a simple but very important task. The leader of the party in the state, Governor Peter Mbah, has asked us to inaugurate all the elected executives. We could have inaugurated you since after you were elected in August but no time is late.
“In every election, not everyone must win. But we ask you to give them support so that we don’t repeat the 2023 mistake again.
“We’re glad that many people who left the party have returned. I want to admonish you to treat all that have returned fairly. Their return will make us more formidable. With them this time around, we will trounce any opposition that will come our way in future elections.”
The PDP chairman appealed to the party members to support the newly inaugurated executives to fulfill their mandate of mobilising party members to win future elections.
“They need every support so that when their tenure expires, others will assume office. We were not here before now; some people were here. So, we need these supports so that the PDP would continue to win 100 percent in future elections.
“The governor has made things easier in our campaigns. We don’t need to convince anyone to win our elections. But we must continue to work,” Chukwunweike said.
